Gilbert Town Council approves plan changes at Sheffield Place

Developer wants to switch portion from multifamily to single-family development

Gilbert Town Council unanimously approved a request June 10 to rezone a portion of the proposed Sheffield Place community from multifamily to single-family residential.

The change, a notable shift for Gilbert’s development trajectory, allows developer proposals to pivot from higher-density housing to a more traditional neighborhood of detached homes for sale.

The action approved both a general plan amendment and rezoning for the site — located just south of the Wyatt apartment complex and southeast of Gilbert Road and Civic Center Drive.
