Gilbert Parks and Recreation is launching a multiyear project to improve its urban lakes, beginning with renovations at Cosmo Dog Park.
The improvements aim to ensure the long-term sustainability and functionality of these community spaces, according to the town.
The project will include:
- Lake dredging and liner replacements;
- Sediment and seepage testing;
- Pump replacements and upgrades;
- Turf removal to prevent runoff;
- Installation of aerator equipment;
- Reconditioning of pump stations.
These updates will cause a closure of the Cosmo Dog Park beach and lake from mid-January through summer 2025.
Residents are encouraged to attend a public meeting at 5 p.m. Jan. 9 to learn more about the renovation project and ask questions.
The one-hour meeting will be held at the corner ramada of Cosmo Dog Park, 2502 E. Ray Road, Gilbert.
Renovations will continue across several other urban lakes in Gilbert in the coming years, including Crossroads Park in late 2025.
Lakes included in this initiative are:
- Cosmo Dog Park;
- Crossroads Park;
- Discovery Park;
- McQueen Park;
- Municipal Center;
- Freestone Park;
- Water Ranch.
