Gilbert Mayor Scott Anderson and key town leaders took the mayor’s annual “State of the Town” event out of council chambers and into the community, reflecting on the community’s progress and future initiatives during the 2025 event Wednesday.
The presentation, held at Water Tower Plaza in a video format bookended by brief remarks from Anderson, showcased the town’s achievements in infrastructure, public safety, quality of life and sustainability.
The event also included popcorn, lemonade and live music from the Gilbert School of Rock, giving the event much more of party atmosphere than a staid speech — perhaps appropriate for a town with a young demographic and a town council that includes a former live music venue owner (Jim Torgeson owned Tempe’s Electric Ballroom in the 1990s).
