Gilbert pays tribute to its veterans

Gilbert paid tribute to those who raised their right hand and chose to serve, as well as the sacrifices made by their family members, at its annual Veterans Day ceremony.

Retired U.S. Army infantry Maj. Chris Woodard, a Gilbert resident and owner of Woodard Construction, gave the keynote speech at the event, held Nov. 11 at Water Tower Plaza.

Woodard noted the 250 years of freedom that veterans had provided, referring to three branches of the military marking 250th anniversaries this season, emphasizing that service connected veterans to a long and honorable tradition.
