Professional women's hockey players showcase talents in Tempe

The Professional Women's Hockey Players Association's Dream Gap Tour made a stop in Arizona March 6-8, showcasing some top talent in women's hockey.

Local hockey players Makenna Newkirk and Katie McGovern captained two teams, which played each other twice during the span. The three-day event concluded with the women facing the Arizona Coyotes Alumni.

All matches were at Oceanside Ice Arena in Tempe. Proceeds from the event went to benefit the PWHPA and the Arizona Coyotes Foundation.

PWHPA works to promote a single, viable professional women's hockey league in North America; provide a united voice for players advocating for the creation of such a league; coordinate training and programming opportunities for the season; and collaborate with similar organizations to make hockey more inclusive for women and young girls.
