Paradise Valley healer pens new book

Founder of The Little Chapel shares testimony

Posted

It’s been more than 50 years since Sara O’Meara was healed from her cancer diagnosis.

A walking miracle, O’Meara has lived to tell her story in her newest book, “Healed: Your Miracle Awaits,” which asks its readers to believe that miracles really do happen.

“I was shocked when it became the number one bestseller on launch day,” O’Meara said, who urges readers to share it with their friends, family and strangers alike.

“People leave my books at service stations, car washes and park benches with a note that says, ‘If you find this book, it was meant for you,’” O’Meara said. “Many people have come up to me after the service and said that’s how they found it.”

O’Meara’s testimony along with many other miracles and stories of her time at Childhelp are outlined in her book.

Life changing ministry

Long before O’Meara co-founded one of the nation’s largest nonprofit child abuse prevention organizations – Childhelp – she was a Sunday school teacher at a Presbyterian church in California.

After being diagnosed with cancer, O’Meara was in the hospital disheartened that her life had come to this point. She looked up to see the late Christian Evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman on TV, urging listeners at home to come to the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. to experience her healing powers in person. At the end of her rope and against her doctor’s orders, O’Meara went to see Kuhlman.

The first miracle was getting into the auditorium as every square foot of the building was packed shoulder to shoulder with people like O’Meara; eager to see a miracle. Little did she know she would be the recipient.

“When I sat down, immediately I was floating on top of the ceiling on a pink cloud,” O’Meara said. Unsure if she was dying or hallucinating, O’Meara’s ears perked up when Kuhlman called her out in front of the thousands of attendees.

“She said, ‘The Holy Spirit is telling me there is a girl here that is being healed from cancer,’” O’Meara recalled. “‘She’s sitting on the balcony wearing red.’”

Wearing a white and red dress, O’Meara began to shake when she was called to the podium.

“Just then, a voice came to me clearly that said, ‘You mean I would do this for you and you would deny me?’ The voice was so real it scared me spitless,” O’Meara said.

O’Meara said she was thereafter completely healed of her disease and began to share her testimony and heal others alongside Kuhlman on stages around the world. O’Meara opened two Little Chapels in L.A. and Paradise Valley and founded Childhelp with Yvonne Fedderson in 1959.

“Sara did have a wonderful healing, and then her healing turned her life around and now she became a healer herself,” Fedderson said in a recent address to congregants of the Little Chapel. “It’s been wonderful to watch her grow because we’ve been friends for 70 years.”

Published by Mark Victor Hansen, “Healed: Your Miracle Awaits” is available on Amazon.com for $16.95. O’Meara invites anyone to attend The Little Chapel services in her Paradise Valley home at 6135 E. Palo Verde Lane.
