West Chandler fire leads to closing of McDonald's

Crews from Chandler and Phoenix departments responded to a fire at a restaurant in west Chandler that led to a temporary closure for repairs.

The Chandler Fire Department stated there was a call about a kitchen fire on the afternoon of Oct. 22 at a McDonald's, located on the northeast corner of Chandler Boulevard and Kyrene Road.

Firefighters arrived to find a working fire in a kitchen deep fryer that extended to the roof, officials stated. The restaurant was evacuated with no reports of injuries.

The fire caused significant damage to the kitchen and the restaurant will be closed until repairs are completed, they stated.

The restaurant is located a few doors south of the Chandler Fire Department's No. 4 station, though it's also not far from both the Tempe and Phoenix city lines.
