Tilson Technology Management says some of its work involves telecommunications. It’s one of three Chandler employers to recently file notices with a state agency that collectively could mean more than 200 total jobs are gone from the city.
Three businesses with employees in the Chandler area — represented by three companies — recently filed WARN notices with the Arizona Department of Economic Security that involve possibly more than 200 jobs lost.
The WARN notices — worker adjustment and retraining notifications — are where employers let state authorities know the maximum number of jobs planned for elimination by a specified date.
Two of the layoffs are tied together. Clothing supplier Stahl’s has started layoffs at its decorating fulfillment center, shown as “DFC” on state documents. The center, which lists a West Morelos Place adddress, let go 33 employees on April 29, a state website states.
Transfer Express Inc. is a brand of Stahl’s’ that manufactures garment decoration materials and equipment. Transfer Express told the state it will be eliminating as many as 53 positions by July 3.
Tilson Technology Management Inc. is a technology and communications equipment business in wireless tech, electric vehicles and even construction.
The 17-location company told the state on May 5 that it will let go as many as 117 employees from its West Allison Road facility.
A spokesperson for the city of Chandler said while Tilson lists an 85226 zip code address, the company is not located within Chandler city limits, as it’s part of the Lone Butte Development LLC, located on the Gila River Indian Community.
Chandler’s economic development director, Micah Miranda, recently told the Chandler Independent the majority of his team’s work has to do with placing firms or people connected to smaller or medium-size companies.
Miranda said layoffs for tech giants like Intel — which announced last year that it would reduce its workforce by 20% — are part of a historic trend in the ebb and flow of tech company growth.
