Brewer Science, Inc., which develops and manufactures materials and processes for the microelectronics and optoelectronics industries, has announced the opening of a new office and lab in Chandler.
Called the Brewer Science Arizona Innovation Center, the expansion strengthens the company’s proximity to key customers, partners, and research collaborators, while providing direct access to the Valley’s tech talent pool, according to a release from the city of Chandler.
“It is global leaders in developing and manufacturing next-generation materials and processes, like what Brewer Science does, that make Chandler a community of innovation and a thriving hub for the semiconductor industry,” Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke stated in the release.
The Innovation Center will serve as both a collaborative research space and a customer engagement hub, accelerating product development and shortening the feedback loop from lab to fab, the release states.
All Brewer Science research and development and manufacturing operations are in the U.S., with the company stating it’s committed to domestic innovation and supply chain resilience.
“This new office and lab bring us closer to the heart of the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem,” Rama Puligadda, chief technology officer for Brewer Science, stated in the release. “The proximity to our customers and partners will streamline our research collaborations and accelerate delivery of advanced materials that meet the rigorous demands of next-generation devices and support our U.S. semiconductor supply chain.”
Dan Brewer, co-CEO of the company, stated that tapping into the rich talent pool of engineers, scientists, and technologists in the Valley is essential.
“The Chandler area is a growing hub of semiconductor innovation, and we’re excited to collaborate with the talented pros driving that momentum,” Brewer said. “This expansion allows us to pair their expertise with Brewer Science’s award-winning culture to accelerate meaningful technological advancements together.”
The release seems to reflect Chandler city leaders are unfazed by recent semiconductor setbacks, such as layoffs at chipmaking giant Intel, Chandler’s largest employer.
“The strategic investment in the region not only deepens Brewer Science’s industry collaborations but also contributes to Chandler’s growing reputation as a center for advanced manufacturing and semiconductor innovation,” the city stated in the release.
Sandra Watson, president and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, said Brewer Science has long been a valued partner in Arizona’s innovation ecosystem, including representation on the Science Foundation Arizona board, she stated.
“The new Innovation Center reinforces Arizona’s position as North America’s premier hub for semiconductor R&D and reflects our shared commitment to advancing next-generation technologies,” Watson stated.
The Innovation Center is located at 145 S. 79th Street in west Chandler. Brewer Science wants to strengthen its role as a key material innovator in semiconductor advancement, the city states, with 11 total offices worldwide.
