A Taco Bell at Avalon Ranch is to be constructed approximately 375 feet south of the southeast corner of Power Road and Elliot Road in Mesa.
The design and landscaping for the 0.7-acre development were discussed during the Feb. 11 meeting of the Mesa Design Review Board. Chair Dane Astle and Board member Paul Johnson were absent.
The limited-service restaurant will have 38 parking spaces, Staff Planner Noah Bulson said during the meeting.
“The site plan ... features a 2,320-square-foot building with a drive-thru. They have 300 square feet of amenity area,” he said.
David Lack of Avalon Development LLC is the applicant. Avalon Ranch LLC is the owner.
The site is part of a 14.46-acre retail development called Avalon Ranch that is to include two anchor pads, Aldi and EōS; three restaurant pads with drive-thrus; an automobile oil change facility; and a service station/convenience store, according to a written project narrative from Avalon Development.
“The Taco Bell is designed to match the aesthetic of the adjoining commercial buildings within the new retail center. Using gray and dark metal tones, brick veneer base, light wall color, and trellis accents, the proposed Taco Bell is contemporary in design,” it states.
The all-volunteer Mesa Design Review Board is unique in that its composition is set by the zoning ordinance to include two architects; two from other design professions such as landscape architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design-related background; one contractor or developer; and two residents, according to the city’s website.
