The Maricopa County Department of Transportation continues construction of the McKellips Road improvement project on the Salt River-Pima Maricopa Indian Community. The second phase of this two-phase project will begin Wednesday, Jan. 22, and continue through early 2026.
On Jan. 22 and continuing through mid-March 2025, both eastbound and westbound traffic will be shifted to the southern lanes of McKellips Road between Alma School Road and 92nd Street. Travel will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Northbound access to Dobson and Longmore Roads from McKellips will be closed and only open to local traffic. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes to their destinations, according to a release.
Watch for work crews, obey all traffic control signs and follow reduced speeds in the work zone. For information on the project and the latest on travel restrictions, go to https://www.maricopa.gov/5938/McKellips-Road.
