Chandler will get the annual performance of Ballet Arizona's "Ballet Under the Stars" series next week.
The show kicked off in Fountain Hills Thursday as part of a series of free shows taking place around the region.
Presented by the Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation, this family-friendly event offers communities a chance to experience the beauty of ballet under the open sky.
This year’s Ballet Under the Stars includes excerpts from both contemporary and classic ballets, giving audiences a taste of the variety of performances they can expereience at the theater.
The show opens with excerpts from “The Sleeping Beauty,” followed by an emotional performance from “Nocturne,” which plays out to Frederic Chopin’s “Nocturne No. 13.” Each show features a performance from local students as part of the Class Act program, which included youngsters from Fountain Hills’ McDowell Mountain Elementary School during the opening performance.
Ballet Under the Stars comes to a close with an excerpt from “Take Me With You,” featuring the music of Radiohead.

Friday, Sept. 19, at A.J. Chandler Park, 178 E. Commonwealth Ave., in Chandler
Saturday, Sept. 20, at Centennial Plaza Park, 9875 N. 85th Ave., in Peoria
Thursday, Sept. 25, at Sahuaro Ranch Historic Park, 9802 N. 59th Ave., in Glendale
Friday, Sept. 26, at Estrella Lakeside Amphitheater, 10300 Estrella Pkwy., in Goodyear
Saturday, Sept. 27, at Steele Indian School Park, 300 E. Indian School Road, in Phoenix
Remaining Class Act performances include students from Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary (Sept. 19), Apache Elementary School (Sept. 20), Foothills Elementary School (Sept. 25), Westar Elementary School (Sept. 26) and Alhambre Traditional School (Sept. 27).
All performances begin at 7 p.m. and are free of charge.
