One action item, much else on Chandler school board agenda

Posted

There’s only one action item on the agenda for the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board at its Wednesday, Feb. 12 meeting.

But there are topics in a pre-meeting work session, consent-agenda and informational items that all could provoke lengthy discussions.

Wednesday’s 7 p.m. meeting, to be held at CUSD offices on West Frye Road, will be preceded by a 6 p.m. work session presentation by Dr. Kym Marshall on the district’s special education continuum.

The early parts of the regular meeting will include a Black History Month presentation, hosted by Hamilton High School senior Alex Brown, and a Silver Valor JROTC award presentation.

Wednesday’s consent agenda includes three policy changes, though all three minor language and formatting alterations, recommended by the district’s contracted board policy organization called “The Trust.”

The lone action item involves a $2.81 million contract with Pueblo Mechanical for HVAC upgrades at Santan Elementary School.

There are five informational items on the agenda, including two more policy revisions. The Trust recommends a disabilities policy update based on a recent state rule change and another revision that would separate suspension and expulsion steps into individual procedures.
