Mesa zoning board approves site plan modification for new America First Credit Union

Posted

The Mesa Planning and Zoning Board voted during its March 13 meeting to approve at major site plan modification for a new America First Credit Union near the 4300 block of East Baseline Road and the 1900 block of South Greenfield.

The vote passed 5-0 as Boardmember Genessee Montes was absent and Vice Chair Jeff Pitcher recused himself.

According to a planning division staff report, the request will allow for the upcoming location to be a financial institution with drive-up ATMs via a zoning site modification.

A presentation document said that the 3,116-square-foot bank will have an access point for drivers from Greenfield Road and cross access with the nearby commercial center. The site will contain a minimum of eight parking spaces but could have as many as 24. There will be two ATM drive-up lanes.

The request was made by Anderson, Whalen and Associates Engineering. According to a proposal document by AWA, the site would be open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. The drive-up ATMs will be open 24 hours a day. The building currently occupying the site would be demolished to allow for construction to begin.

“The proposed building and drive-thru will be located within the existing retail center,” the AWA document said. “The drive-thru will be located at the north end of the site lot to maximize vehicular accessibility as well as screening from the adjacent roadways.”

It is currently unknown when construction will begin, nor when it will be completed. The cost is also unknown at this time.
