Grand opening set for store in community southeast of Chandler

Posted

Gila River Development and the Gila River Indian Community are hosting a grand opening event for the Sacaton Market.

That's a new convenience store and fuel station on the southeast corner of South Ocotillo Drive and Bluebird Road.

The event is set for Thursday, Oct. 23, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

This development brings some fresh produce and groceries directly to members of the Gila River Indian Community, who have had to drive outside of their community to get fresh ingredients.

The facility also includes a laundromat and seating.

The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, vendors and exhibits, food samples, swag and prizes, along with guest speakers in the form of community leaders and managers.

Would you be interested in speaking with Duncan Wiston, the general manager of Gila River Development, and Eric Johns, the assistant operations manager for the Sacaton Market, about this grand opening? Talking points can include:

Friday, Oct. 24, there will be a trunk-or-treat event in the parking lot for community members to enjoy.
