The Nov. 4 Chandler City Council regular meeting included several recognitions, including one for the city’s Public Works department.
The city recently earned a four-year re-certification from the American Public Works Association.
Knudson praised one employee who has worked on the four-year certification five times and is handing it off to a co-worker next time.
The department was first certified nationally certified in 2004 and has earned full re-certification via a thorough process every four years since.
Knudson said Chandler is one of only five organizations in Arizona that hold the certification. He said while re-certifying is tough and demanding, he likes it, because it forces the department to examine each of its hundreds of processes.
