Chandler Prep has breakout year for college commits

Posted

Four student-athlete seniors at one Chandler charter school have been part of one of the more successful Titans graduating classes, in terms of college athletics commitments.

Four Chandler Prep seniors announced their college athletics commitments at a May ceremony. They plan to join the 6% of high school athletes nationwide who advance to collegiate competition, according to a news release.

The event also marked a major milestone, the release states, as Robbie Hirsch became the first Division I baseball commitment in Chandler Prep history.

Hirsch will play at the University of Dayton in Ohio. The Flyers are the alma mater of former MLB pitcher and broadcaster Jerry Blevins and former MLB pitcher and current San Diego Padres manager Craig Stammen.

The Titans had three other student-athletes in the Class of 2026 move on to other college programs. Avery Hamler signed a letter of intent to play football with Norwich University in Vermont, trying to build off of senior year in which the Titans reached the second round of Arizona’s 2A state playoffs.

Dani Scott will play women’s soccer for Mesa Community College. Dominic “Dom” Steineke will play baseball at Glendale Community College in the West Valley.
