Chandler Police: No arrests in alleged park attack

Posted

Chandler Police have not made any arrests in a Dec. 27 attack that was reported in a park in the west end of the city.

A spokesperson stated that at about 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 27, officers responded to a call for service at Windmills West Park near McClintock Drive and Ray Road.

The caller told police she was grabbed from behind and assaulted by an unknown man before losing consciousness, the spokesperson said.

The victim was treated for her injuries at the scene.
Detectives are actively investigating the assault, and the identity of the suspect is unknown at this time, the spokesperson stated.

The woman victim told other media outlets that she uses Windmills West Park regularly, and it’s typically full of people, but not on the Saturday after Christmas early in the morning. She returned a day later to post handmade fliers alerting park users about the attack.

A recent noontime, weekday observation of the park showed it in use by several people, though not crowded.
