Chandler DECA national achievers recognized

Eight students from three Chandler Unified School District high schools were recognized at the Aug. 20 CUSD Governing Board meeting for their accomplishments at the most recent national DECA competition.

Each student earned a recognition in their respective categories.
DECA, Inc., formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America, is an international nonprofit organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management, according to CUSD.

DECA serves as a co-curricular organization in high schools and colleges, providing students with practical skills and experiences to succeed in their future careers.

DECA is a career and technical student organization that Chandler career and technical education students participate in.
DECA is organized into two unique student divisions each with programs designed to address the learning styles, interests, and focus of its members.

The high school division, according to DECA itself, includes more than 292,000 members in more than 4,000 schools.

Honored in person Aug. 20 were top-achieving students Alex Josanu, Connor, Amy and Alice Wilson of Casteel High, Hamilton High School senior Aryan Patel and Arizona College Prep senior Abhiram Swarna. Matthew of Casteel was also recognized.
