Cave Creek renews agreement with Maricopa County to manage Spur Cross

The Cave Creek Town Council on Sept, 15 approved a resolution to amend its current agreement with Maricopa County and the management of the Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area. Spur Cross is 2,154 acres of preserved land that was dedicated on Jan. 9, 2001 and celebrated its 25th anniversary on Jan. 9, 2026.

The Cave Creek Town Council on Sept, 15 approved a resolution to amend its current agreement with Maricopa County and the management of the Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area.

The agreement extends the county’s management of Spur Cross to 2061.

Development Services Director Luke Kautzman said the two entities have been working on a handshake agreement since 2021 to get the agreement hammered out.
