The Cave Creek Town Council will review a pair of proposals on Tuesday regarding the repaving of a number of streets and roads throughout the town.
The town had funds set aside to do the projects, but with town getting a good price to complete roads it had approved in an earlier contract, the town would like to use the remaining funds to complete more projects on its list roads needing repair.
In the first proposal, approximately $516,000 remained in the adopted budget, and it was decided to identify other roads that could either be moved up or taken out of the backlog using these approved funds.
An additional five projects were identified as candidates for the Cape Seal project awarded to Cactus Asphalt. The town received good unit pricing for the work to complete.
Another proposal will deal with National Pavement Partners and providing work on Sunset Trail from Stage Coach Pass to 62nd Street. The street is in poor condition and requires complete removal, compaction of the base, and new asphalt, according to information from the council packet.
The council also will look at revision to the Town’s Water Service Adjustment Policy.
Town Code states, “Every customer shall at all times maintain in good repair their water pipes, faucets, valves, sprinklers, plumbing fixtures or any other water appliances, to prevent waste of water,” and “Customers are responsible to pay the town for all water consumption by leaks or damages on account of leaks from the service pipes leading from the meter to the premises served.”
The current Water Service Adjustment Policy, adopted bycouncil in November 2024, authorizes a service adjustment to water usage at the lowest tier water rate applied to the metered usage.
During the past 12 service months, there have been 48 adjustments made, totaling $62,950.81, ranging from $228.13 to $10,509.15. Those 48 customers represent 1% of the nearly 4,500 water accounts. Those adjustments represent 0.6% of $7.7 million in water usage revenues.
The town will also issue a proclamation for the upcoming Cave Creek Rodeo Days, running from March 21-29.
