The Town of Carefree approved a 10-year contract with Rural Metro Fire Department on April 7 at the Town Council meeting. The contract will take effect July 1, 2027.

The Town of Carefree will hold a regular meeting 5 p.m. Aug. 4 in the Town Council Chambers, 33 Easy Street.
The town will officially declare election results, issue election certificates, and place the remaining town council contest on the Nov. 3 ballot.
Because only two candidates received the statutory majority required for election to the three available Town Council seats, one council seat remains to be filled, according to the town.
The two eligible candidates are Ted Taylor and write-in Sharon Smith.
Because neither candidate had the statutory majority of 689 votes, they will have to be placed on the Nov. 3 ballot.
