Apartments planned near Power, Guadalupe roads in Mesa
City of Mesa
The Park North project is to have a large, centralized open space and resort-like amenity area that includes a community pool, clubhouse, fitness center, leasing office and an outdoor play area, as well as two dog parks and a dog-washing station.
Four three-story apartment buildings with 120 units are to be constructed approximately 270 feet east of the northeast corner of Power Road and Guadalupe Road.
The landscaping and design for the facility were discussed during the Feb. 11 meeting of the Mesa Design Review Board. Chair Dane Astle and Board member Paul Johnson were absent.
The development is to have a 4,053-square-foot clubhouse/leasing office. It is to have 252 parking spaces.
“So the site plan shows the construction of two three-story apartment buildings — those are the end... (T)he far one on the east, the far one on the west have 36 units. And then the three-story apartment buildings in the center, they have 24 units each,” Staff Planner Charlotte Bridges said at the meeting.
Chris Webb of Rose Law Group is the applicant. Excolo Development is the owner.
The Park North project is to have a large, centralized open space and resort-like amenity area that includes a community pool, clubhouse, fitness center, leasing office and an outdoor play area, as well as two separate dog parks and a dog-washing station, according to a written project narrative.
“The proposed Park North project will replace a long vacant, non-viable commercially zoned site with a new residential development that provides diverse housing options for the area and will bring in new residents to support the city’s oversupplied existing commercial/retail uses,” it states.
The all-volunteer Mesa Design Review Board is unique in that its composition is set by the zoning ordinance to include two architects; two from other design professions such as landscape architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design-related background; one contractor or developer; and two residents, according to the city’s website.
