Candidate forum, meet-and-greet set for May 6 in Gilbert

A candidate forum and meet-and-greet event is scheduled for May 6, bringing together candidates seeking to represent Gilbert, Chandler and Queen Creek in several races.

The event, presented by the Gilbert, Chandler and Queen Creek chambers of commerce, will feature candidates running for Congressional District 5, Legislative Districts 13 and 14, and local town and city councils.

It will be at the DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix/Gilbert Conference and Reception Center, 1800 S. Santan Parkway, Gilbert, from 4-7 p.m.

Candidate forums will be held for Congressional District 5 and the participating legislative districts. Candidates for municipal offices will take part in a meet-and-greet format only, allowing attendees to speak with them directly.

Organizers said the event is designed to give community members an opportunity to learn about candidates’ platforms and priorities ahead of upcoming elections.

Invited candidates’ attendance is not guaranteed.

The event will also include candidates from municipal races in Chandler, Gilbert and Queen Creek.

Organizers said the format is intended to encourage direct interaction between voters and candidates and support informed participation in the election process.
