Mesa school board approves American education week proclamation

The Mesa Public Schools Governing Board voted 5-0 to approve a proclamation at its Nov. 12 meeting that establishes American Education Week on the days of Nov. 18-22 across the district.

According to board documents, the intention of the week is provide tools to help young students maintain America’s freedom and equality, and to equip students with practical and intellectual abilities for the future.

The event will be separated into different themed days, according to board documents: Kickoff Day on Nov. 18, Parents Day on Nov. 19, Education Support Professionals Day on Nov. 20, Educator for a Day on Nov. 21 and Substitute Teachers Day on Nov. 22.

MUSD — also known as Mesa Public Schools — is the largest public school district in Arizona and has six high schools, nine junior high schools, 55 elementary schools and 18 choice and success schools.
