Most Gilbert Public Schools employees will have 3% raises next year after governing board action at a special meeting April 11.
The meeting was held for the sole purpose of the board considering the recommended compensation package for the 2023-24 school year.
On a unanimous vote, the board approved 3% raises for returning certified staff, professional, and all exempt, or non-hourly, employees. Returning administrative staff also will get 3% raises.
Returning hourly classified and at-will staff will get a $1 per hour raise.
Board Members Sheila Uggetti and Jill Humpherys and President Lori Wood spoke in appreciation of the district’s work in making the raises happen.
“Though we aren't exactly sure what the budget will look like, because we don't know until the legislature finishes, we are confident that we have the funds to do this,” Wood said. “And it's a priority that we make sure that we are competitive. We give competitive salaries to our staff, those who do, again, the heavy lifting each day with our students. We're so appreciative, and we will find a way within our means to make this happen.”
