Another 145 housing units up for approval in Buckeye


The city of Buckeye’s growth marches on at Tuesday’s Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

A 145-unit housing plat for part of a major development is up for preliminary approval when the Commission meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Buckeye City Hall, 530 E. Monroe Ave.

The attached units are on 19 acres that make up Units B and C of the sixth phase of the Verrado Victory District.

Verrado, which dates as far back as 1999, is an 8,800-acre master-planned community with lots located north and south of Interstate 10 in the northeast part of Buckeye, with the Victory District located of Indian School Road. Units B and C of the sixth phase of Victory are located off Tiger Mountain Drive and Victory Boulevard, near Litchfield Park.

As of late 2021, according to a staff report, about 55% of all Verrado’s 14,000 planned units have been placed.

The Victory District is being built in a variety of sequences. For example, according to a staff report, Phase 7B’s final engineering documents have been submitted to the city, and construction is out to bid.

Units B and C will include trail systems that link neighborhoods with the seventh and eighth phases of Victory.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda is a site plan approval for The Bungalows on Yuma and Apache. The 333-unit, single-family apartment rental community is at the southeast corner of 247th Avenue and Yuma Road.

Tuesday will mark the first full meeting since the Commission named Deanna Kupcik as its chair and Teddy Burton as co-chair.
