Water resources lecture series offered in Apache Junction

Posted

Join the City of Apache Junction for another three-part water resources workshop series this November.

Learn how local agencies manage wastewater, deliver water throughout the valley and protect the community’s stormwater and groundwater resources.

Each workshop will feature a local water resources expert, and two desert-adapted plants from Boyce Thompson Arboretum will be raffled off to attendees at each session.

All workshops take place 10-11:30 a.m. in the programming room at the Apache Junction Public Library, 1177 N. Idaho Road.

The series includes:

  • Nov. 3: Apache Junction Sewer District: Darron Anglin, general manager, will discuss the district’s role in aquifer recharge and explain the sewer management process.
  • Nov. 10: Roosevelt Water Conservation District: Russell Rea, general manager, will explain how the district delivers water to customers across the valley and manages its canal systems.
  • Nov. 17: City of Apache Junction: Matthew McClure, floodplain and stormwater coordinator, will discuss how storm water moves through the community and why preventing pollution is important for groundwater recharge.
