Portion of Apache Trail median getting face-lift with plants, trees

Members of the Apache Junction’s Youth Advisory Council volunteered Nov. 7 to help put in 150 plants and are slated to do it again Nov. 14 with the placement of trees in the median on Apache Trail from Ironwood Drive to just east of Gold Drive.

“And so we’ll do the planting of the plants this Saturday and then the following Saturday the Arizona Sustainability Alliance, those volunteers will come out and they will be planting the trees,” Liz Langenbach, director of the Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Department, told the parks commission Nov. 4. “They are the ones who donated all of the trees; they donated about $1,500 worth of really nice 25-gallon trees,”

The spreading of granite should be in December, she said.
