Thursday, Jan. 25, Pinal D5 held its second 2024 candidate forum.
At the forum, invited candidates are asked questions submitted by the audience in a round robin fashion and given three-minutes to respond. Using secret ballots, the audience then chooses the candidate they are likely to vote for in 2024. Additionally, candidates are ranked in order based on their responses to the questions. This gives an idea of their knowledge about issues and concerns from the citizens and how they might address them if elected.
Thursday’s forum brought together the 2024 candidates for Pinal County Supervisor: Todd House, former supervisor; and Rhonda Mattachoni and David Malton, the two newcomers. Also invited was Supervisor Jeff Serdy, however the supervisor was called away on personal business and was unable to participate.
The questions ranged from election integrity to economic development, taxes, transportation, and preservation of open spaces and property value.
D5 includes Apache Junction, Gold Canyon and parts of unincorporated Pinal County. The candidates impressed the audience with their knowledge and passion for their candidacy.
