Outgoing Apache Junction Mayor Wilson hopes city’s rural character is retained

Chip Wilson said he promised his wife she could own a horse after he retired from the Air Force, but finding a place for one wasn’t so simple.

Wilson considered several East Valley communities but said he struggled to find property where he and his wife could keep horses.

His search eventually brought him to Apache Junction, where Wilson said former City Clerk Kathy Connelly brought out a map and showed him where the community’s large lots were. There, she told him he could have as many horses as he wanted.
