The Canyon Sounds Performance Series hosted by the Gold Canyon Arts Council is back with live concerts at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church, 6640 S. Kings Ranch Road.

Purchase advance tickets for $30 and students K-12 for $5 at goldcanyonarts.org; Robin Rotella Realtors, 6641 S. Kings Ranch Road in Gold Canyon (credit card, cash or check); and Apache Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, 567 W. Apache Trail (cash only).

The arts council supports the performing arts in East Valley schools. Artists are obligated to perform in Mesa, Apache Junction, Miami, Globe and the San Carlos reservation, Chuck Cuffaro, who is in charge of publicity for the arts council, said in an email.

“We also donate instruments, lessons, arts supplies and visual arts instructions,” he said.

Remaining concerts are:

• Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuellar & Dancers — 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2024: “As Grammy Award winners with a 26-year history of shows that have delighted audiences throughout the U.S. and Mexico, these eight mariachi players and two dancers will create an exciting stage and audience experience. The ensemble has collaborated with a who’s who of Mexican artists, including Ballet Folklorico de Los Angeles,” the release states.

• Quarteto Nuevo — 7 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024: “This innovative quartet merges western classical, eastern European folk, Latin and jazz with an organic feel that packs a wallop. Quarteto Nuevo’s master musicians create emotionally charged soundscapes with instruments and sensibilities that represent very different world cultures,” according to the release.

• Barbara Padilla, vocalist from America’s Got Talent — 7 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024: “An exceptional classical-crossover vocalist, from Guadalajara Mexico, Barbara Padilla was first runner-up on America’s Got Talent. Alongside some special musicians, Barbara will sing some of the world’s greatest arias and many Latin-American crossover favorites. This will be a show to remember,” the release states.
