Six to 10 Apache Junction High School students will travel March 8-12 to Washington, D.C., for a military orientation trip.
The travel for members of the Naval Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps was approved by the AJUSD Governing Board in a unanimous vote Jan. 12 on a consent agenda with other items.
“We have estimated the cost of this event per cadet to be in excess of $2,000 with each cadet paying $400. The difference will be picked up by U.S. States Navy,” said Cmdr. Gary Lock, U.S. Navy retired, the high school’s NJROTC senior naval science instructor, in a memo to the governing board. “This military orientation trip is jam-packed with opportunity not available in any other forum/venue/class.”
