Students across the Higley Unified School District will get a hands-on civics lesson in the coming school year as the district rolls out a new “school participatory budget” program.
The program is designed to teach democratic decision-making and financial literacy through real-world application.
Secondary Education Executive Director Jeff Armstrong describes it as “an innovative civic learning process designed to build student agency collaboration, critical thinking skills, while creating equitable opportunities for students to authentically contribute to their communities and civic life.”
