The city of Apache Junction has been awarded a $49,000 grant to reimburse driving-under-the-influence enforcement overtime costs by the police department.
The Apache Junction City Council voted unanimously Aug. 4 to approve a consent agenda including a resolution to accept the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration DUI-abatement grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
AJPD has applied for and received such funding before, Traffic Unit Sgt. Edward McGuire said at a July 21 council meeting.
