Apache Junction council approves $402K asphalt-crushing contract

The work involves crushing and sizing recycled asphalt into aggregates to be used for various new construction and maintenance projects.

The city of Apache Junction is paying more than $402,000 for a business to crush and size asphalt.

The Apache Junction City Council on Oct. 20 voted unanimously to approve a consent agenda with other items including awarding a contract to Viasun Corp. for asphalt concrete crushing services.

The work would be through Pinal County cooperative contract No. 175623 for $402,489.03, which includes a 10% contingency for unforeseen change orders.
