Apache Junction City Clerk Evie McKinney has earned the designation of certified municipal clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Inc.
She is one of 73 certified municipal clerks in the state of Arizona to have the CMC designation, according to a release.
The IIMC awards the CMC to municipal clerks who fulfill extensive educational requirements and demonstrate a substantial commitment to their local government, community and state.
The CMC program has been supporting clerks since 1970, equipping them with the necessary skills to effectively navigate the complex roles involved in running the City Clerk’s Office, the release states.
“I worked to get the CMC designation to enhance my abilities as the city clerk and to show my dedication to our city as a professional public servant,” McKinney said in the release. “I’m thankful for the unwavering support from city leadership, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve the Apache Junction community.”
She started her career with the city in 1990, gaining experience across various departments. McKinney worked as the acting city clerk from the fall of 2024 until she was promoted and appointed to the position of city clerk in February of this year.
In addition to the CMC designation, McKinney is an Arizona certified elections officer and has earned certificates from the Arizona Municipal Clerk’s Association Institute, the AGTS Supervisor’s Academy and various clerical/administrative conferences and seminars. Her next goal is to pursue a master municipal clerk designation — an advanced continuing education program offered by the IIMC.
