AJUSD incumbent pledges to continue working for safe schools, strong academics

Dena Kimble was first elected to governing board in 2014

OPINION — For the past 12 years, I have had the honor and privilege of serving our community on the Apache Junction Unified School District Governing Board. As I reflect on those years, I am incredibly grateful for the students, parents, teachers, staff, community members and local leaders who have supported and encouraged me along the way.

When I first ran for the governing board, I did so because I believed our students deserved a strong voice and every opportunity to succeed. Twelve years later, that commitment has not changed. I am proud of the progress our district has made, but I also know there is more work to do.

Serving on the governing board — and most recently as board president — has been an honor and a privilege. I have never taken the trust placed in me lightly. Every decision I make comes back to what I believe is best for our students, our families and the future of AJUSD.
