Independent Newsmedia
A total of 1,200 11.6-inch Acer Chromebook 311s have been purchased for the Apache Junction Unified School District.
The $293,299.20 contract with CDW-G includes $243,600 for the Chromebooks, $30,000 for a Google Chrome management console license for education and $19,699.20 for taxes.
The purchase was approved as part of a consent agenda with other items at the May 26 AJUSD Governing Board meeting. Meeting by Zoom were President Jodi Ehrlich, Vice President Cami Garcia and board members Dena Kimble and Chelsea Connolly. Board member Christa Rizzi was not at the meeting.
The laptop computer can be used in or outside the classroom, according to CDW-G’s website.
“The Acer Chromebook 311 is the ideal laptop for all ages from the very young upwards,” it states at cdwg.com. “With its safety certification, state-of-the-art low-energy consuming processor, military-standard specs and long battery life, it can stand up to the daily rigors and intense usage of students inside or outside the classroom.”
