Gilbert police have identified the man who drove into a popular Chinese restaurant in town Tuesday and killed himself.

Police identified the driver as Dai Alex Chuang, 64, and that he died of self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were responding to the private property crash before 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dragon Wok restaurant, 727 W. Ray Road, suite B1, Gilbert.

Owner Sam Szeto, popularly known in town as “Dragon Sam,” posted on the restaurant’s social media that Dragon Wok would be closed indefinitely for renovations following the crash.

Szeto's son has set up a gofundme account to help the restaurant recover.

Police said it is an isolated incident with no injuries, and it remains under investigation.
