Local nonprofit Waste Not and restaurant Birdcall are teaming up April 24 to raise funds to fight hunger in Arizona.

April 24 is Stop Food Waste Day and local nonprofit, Waste Not, is teaming up with Valley restaurant, Birdcall, to help raise awareness.
Arizona is known as the worst offender for food waste in our country, with $9.5 billion in food being thrown away every year, according to a press release.
Birdcall in Scottsdale, 7204 E. Shea Boulevard, will be hosting an all-day fund raiser on Wednesday, April 24 during the restaurant’s opening hours. Proceeds from this fund raiser will go directly to supporting Waste Not’s mission of alleviating hunger and rescuing food before it ends up in the landfills.
For every dollar of food and beverages purchased at Birdcall that day, using the code wastenot424, Birdcall will donate 25% to Waste Not. The code be can entered at check-out both in-store and online. The code can also be used in drive-thru, but guests will need to mention the code at the beginning of an order placement.
Waste Not works with local businesses and grocery stores to rescue food before it spoils and ends up in the landfills. Once collected, Waste Not than works to deliver this food to 85 local nonprofit organizations that support Arizonans struggling from food insecurity.
