Snoop, Dre to sponsor Tucson college bowl game in Arizona

Posted

A rapper, sports enthusiast and media mogul is putting his name on an annual Arizona event.
Snoop Dogg announced Monday, May 6, he’s sponsoring “The Arizona Bowl Presented by Gin & Juice.”

The lengthy name covers a college football event and game set for Saturday, Dec. 28 in Tucson.

There aren’t many details on thearizonabowl.com yet. There is a Friday, Dec. 27 “pep rally” and an “official tailgate” on Dec. 28 before the game.

In Monday’s announcement on the website X, formerly Twitter, Snoop Dogg didn’t announce whether he and/or Dre would perform live at the event.

“College football fans are exhausted by the constant talk around conference realignment, the NIL, coach movement, transfer portals and super-conferences,” Snoop Dogg said on X. “It’s time to get back to the roots of college football, when it was focused on the colleges, the competition, the fan experience and the pageantry. I’m ready to bring the juice back to college football.”

The game will be played at Arizona Stadium, home of the University of Arizona Wildcats. That 50-000-seat stadium has hosted a college bowl game consistently for decades.

Wyoming beat Toledo, 16-15, on Dec. 30 in the 2023 Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl.

Snoop Dogg, 52, has had many involvements with football. He is a certified coach and founded his own youth league, which became to subject of a reality TV show. His son, Cordell, initially signed a letter of intent to play at UCLA.
