ADOT to host meeting about Loop 101 project in North Glendale

Virtual meeting takes place this Thursday

North Glendale residents may want to tune into this week’s virtual public meeting with the Arizona Department of Transportation.

ADOT and its project partners are hosting a meeting for the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway), 75th Avenue to Interstate 17 widening project, which is currently in the final design phase. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24.

The project will add a general purpose lane in each direction to the outside of Loop 101, lengthen bridges, modify interchange ramps, add sound walls where warranted, convert lighting to LED and make other improvements.

The project team will give a presentation on the details, followed by an opportunity for the public to ask questions or make comments online or by phone.

“The project seeks to address growing traffic demands in the northwest Valley and relieve traffic congestion on the Loop 101 during the morning and evening peak travel periods,” ADOT shared on its website. “The project will connect with the current Loop 101 Pima Freeway widening project east of I-17, which is slated for completion in early 2022.”

Per current program funding, project construction is anticipated to begin in 2024. If funding becomes available sooner, construction may start in 2023, according to ADOT.
