Bauders not seeking reelection to Apache Junction Unified School District Governing Board

Posted

Bobby Bauders, who was elected in 2020 to the Apache Junction Unified School District Governing Board, has announced he is not seeing reelection in November.

He was born and raised in Apache Junction and attended AJUSD schools K-12.

“Serving this community and district has truly been an incredible honor. Growing up here, I always wanted a leader who understood and spoke up for students. I hope I’ve been that leader for today’s students,” he said in a statement.

“After much consideration, I have made the very difficult decision to not seek reelection to the Apache Junction Unified School District Governing Board. This comes as I prepare to move to Tempe with my fiancé following our engagement last year,” he said.

“At 21, I was proud to be the youngest elected leader in Apache Junction/Gold Canyon. During my tenure, I’ve fought hard for LGBTQ+ students, disabled students, early childhood education, the needs of impoverished students and special education programs,” Bauders said.

“Unfortunately, I’ve witnessed the current board majority prioritizing their political interests over holding district administration accountable, to the detriment of our community’s children. Our students, parents, staff and community deserve so much better than this current board majority’s failed leadership," he said.
