“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” is on stage now at Arizona Broadway Theatre in Peoria this month.
The four-time Tony Award-winning show is filled with music, laughs and a scene-stealing role for an actor who plays all eight of the doomed heirs who meet their end in the most creative and side-splitting ways.
The production is showing now through Saturday, June 1.
“It is hard to believe a musical about a serial killer could be so funny, but audiences are in for a real treat with this show,” Kurtis Overby, Arizona Broadway Theatre artistic director, shared in a press release. “From the 10-piece live orchestra and the amazing LED wall to the immensely talented actors and the dozens of costume quick changes, this show is a feast for the ears and the eyes.”
“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” by Steven Lutvak with lyrics by Lutvak and Robert L. Freedman, and book by Freedman, centers around Monty Navarro, a penniless clerk turned conniving killer. After the death of his mother, Monty learns he is ninth in line to inherit the earldom of Highhurst. Unfortunately, the wealthy D’Ysquith banking family controls it and isn’t going to give it up without a fight.
Arizona Broadway Theatre’s cast features Ryan Michael Crimmins, Katelyn Lauria, Kelsey Seaman, James Shultz, Katie Scarlett Swaney, Temperance Jones, Kimberly Abrams, Sophie Rapieiko, Erin Burtchaell, Henrique Sobrinho, Adam C. Hainsel, Tyler Gallaher and Zachary Mitchell.
