Abrazo Teddy Bear Clinic teaches kids about health, safety

Nurses from Abrazo Central Campus visited Maryland Elementary School in North Central Phoenix to hold a Teddy Bear Clinic with kindergarten and first-grade students, teaching them about basic first aid, household safety and more.

The clinic was part of the Nurses Week activities and a way to give back to the community for Abrazo Central Campus, according to the hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer Michelle Henderson in a press release.

Teddy bears were provided by Abrazo for the children to keep as they “practiced” what they learned about first aid.

“It was a fun morning for the students, teachers and nurses, and possibly inspired some of the kids for a future career in medicine,” Henderson stated in the release.

Maryland Elementary is a neighborhood school just blocks away from Abrazo Central Campus. The hospital stays involved with health presentations and supporting a wellness room for the students, according to the release. Abrazo Central Campus is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
