Surprise officials to audition National Anthem performers for spring training games

City officials announced they are seeking local musicians to perform the National Anthem at games during upcoming 2019 Cactus League Spring Training games at Surprise Stadium, 15930 N. Bullard Ave, Surprise.

The Cactus League season runs Saturday, Feb. 23-Sunday, March 24, 2019 and Surprise Stadium is spring training home to the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers, who will play a total of 30 home games in Surprise this year.

Experienced vocalists and instrumentalists are encouraged to audition in person or by submitting a recorded performance for consideration.

There are three ways to be audition:

  1. City officials will host live, open auditions 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 at the stadium. Performers should enter through the gate near third base near the parking lot and auditions will be completed on a first-come, first-served basis. Audition spots are limited and no pre-registration is required.
  2. Applicants may submit a video, audio recording or link to an online video hosting service (such as YouTube or Vimeo) to: Alison.Matthees@surpriseaz.gov.
  3. Or performers may post their performance video vis social media to: @SurpriseStadium on Instagram or Facebook.

Deadline to submit recordings is Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019.
