Join hundreds of Arizonans participating in the 15th annual Tim Barber Walk for POP at Kiwanis Park in Tempe on Sept. 28, recognizing National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
The event is dedicated to the memory of Tim Barber, a Tempe police detective who died from prostate cancer at an early age, a press release explained.
This festive, educational walk raises awareness of the importance of early detection of prostate cancer, celebrates prostate cancer survivors and honors those who have died because of this disease.
There will be a mobile on-site prostate cancer screening unit at the walk, according to the release, and 100 free prostate cancer screenings will be given to men 40 and over or younger if there is a family history.
The two-mile walk around Kiwanis Lake will take place from 7 to 11 a.m. Registration is $30 for those older than 12 and $15 for those 12 and under.
