Tempe Veterans Commission hosts town hall on veterans issues

Join the Tempe Veterans Commission on Saturday, March 22 for an educational Veterans Town Hall designed to address issues related to aging veterans, raise awareness about toxic exposure and inform the community of available resources. 

The event is planned from 9 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Post 2 in Tempe. Refreshments will be served, according to a city release.

Town hall topics will include:

  • Aging veterans;
  • Veterans benefits and how to access them;
  • Tanner Thomas Village for Veterans;
  • Fort McClellan toxic exposure.

Speakers for the town hall are Chuck Byers, co-chair of the Vietnam Veterans of America Healthcare Committee, Dr. Molly McGaughey, geriatrician at VA Medical Center in Asheville, North Carolina, and Rick Kreiberg, executive director of Veterans Affinity and retired Army Command Sergeant Major. 

Participants will have access to several onsite resources about Agent Orange service-connected, disability compensation, the PACT ACT and disability compensation for veterans of the Persian Gulf War, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, according to the release.

Participating organizations and agencies are Vietnam Veterans of America, Veterans Affinity, VA Medical Center, Arizona Department of Veterans Affairs and Valors Veterans Community AZ.
