The Tempe Municipal Court is inviting Tempe and Kyrene school district students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades to take part in the Law Day 2025 art contest.
Law Day is an annual commemoration held on May 1 to celebrate the rule of law and cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal system, a city release explained. It is a national celebration created by the American Bar Association.
A theme is chosen to educate students on the American legal system and how it contributes to freedom, and the Tempe Municipal Court takes part in the celebration every year. Students may draw, paint, sketch or create a collage depicting this year's theme: The Constitution's Promise: Out of Many, One.
Students can work alone or in groups of two, though posters may not exceed 11 inches by 17 inches, and each poster should include the student or students’ names, teacher name, grade and school on the back.
All entries are due by April 22. To schedule a class presentation or pick-up for art contest entries, contact Alisha Major at 480-350-8454 or alisha_mayor@tempe.gov.
All entries will be showcased April 29 through May 11 at the Tempe History Museum. Cash prizes will be presented to the winners. Winners, along with their families and teachers, will be invited to attend a city council meeting on May 1 at 5:45 p.m. to be recognized.
